Pinterest: Waste Of Time Or Productive Hobby?

Looking back here, it's been a while since I posted! I'll try to change that in the coming year. My last post was me freaking out a little because I'd been unjustly blocked from Pinterest. Thankfully they remedied that fairly quickly and I'm still pinning with mad abandon. I've even done a few things from my pins! I've come to terms with the fact that Pinterest is pretty much a gorgeous time-suck, electronic hoarding really, and that I will be lucky if I do even ten percent of the things I pin. However, it's a hobby I enjoy and as such I will continue to do it. It doesn't take away from my family, it gives me joy, and I daresay that some of the things I've pinned have even added to my family's joy (for instance, when my children clamored for one of those damn Elves On a Shelf this Christmas, I was able to mine the Pinterest braintrust and do all sorts of creative things that I didn't have to come up with myself! The kids loved it.). My mother and I have even started some secret boards of craft projects that we might actually tackle together... one of these days.

I can still poke a little fun at my beloved though. I leave you with the "Fall of Pinterest" video, which is both hilarious and... sadly accurate. (And it's a Lord of the Rings parody, which speaks to my nerdly heat.)

Blocked Due To Suspicious Activty

I was just posting on Pinterest half an hour or so ago... I went back to follow a beloved company's Pinterest board (ScrapboxUSA, I have one of their desks and it is amazing!) only to be informed that my account has been locked due to suspicious activity.

MY ACCOUNT. HAS BEEN LOCKED.

I can't pinnnnnn! You can't do this to a girl with an addictive personality and an anxiety disorder!!

Some quick googling has led me to a few recent posts that are not terribly encouraging:

emailing several times with no response...

like A MONTH ago??

I don't want to be caught in the crosshairs! I don't even really market anything on Pinterest! I just pin a LOT!
I understand that they've had rapid growth and are short staffed but I'm still not terribly patient. Their website says it can take a few days for a response. I hope it's no longer than that... sooner would be great. Like, oh, NOW. ;)

Thinking Things Out...

I've been sitting on this blog since I created it, thinking its purpose out a bit. I intend to focus largely on the 'meals' part because food is a wonderful thing... I'm also going to make it my goal to try out pins in all my other categories though. Why pin them if you're not going to use them, right?

Pins I've already tried and will be reviewing soon:

Easy Peel Hard Boiled Eggs

Grilled Balsamic-Garlic Crusted Pork Tenderloin

Key West Grilled Chicken

Loaded Baked Potato Dip

Paula Deen Smothered Chicken

Peanut Butter Cup S'Mores Bars

Red Velvet Crepes

Reese's Cup S'Mores

Restaurant Style Steak

S'More Pops

An Introduction

Hi, my name is Kristi, and I'm a Pinterest addict. As of this writing I have 40 boards and over 6,000 pins. I'd wager that a good half of them are devoted to food. Beautiful, glorious, delicious-sounding food. So much food that it is unlikely I will ever sample all of them in my lifetime (especially since I have no plans to stop pinning anytime soon!), but I'd like to give it the old college try! Another problem: many of the recipes that catch my eye could hardly be called health food. However, I am constantly trying to improve my own health and feed my family cleaner, healthy foods. Ergo, my blog purpose: test and review pinned recipes. If necessary, find ways to make them healthier and repost lightened / cleaner versions. Lather, rinse, repeat. Happy sampling!
